The average 18 year old is said to spend more than 6 hours a day devoted to the internet. He plays games. He gets his daily dose of the news. He downloads songs. He keeps updated in the social scene via social networking websites. He can even shop there. Indeed life seems to revolve around the phenomenon that is the internet. No one will fault you if you prefer a simple website. Nothing is wrong with that except that it does not reveal much. One might be tempted to conclude that the owner of that website is simply disinterested in the world and therefore hides behind the cold and sterile whiteness of the computer screen. I started out with a simple website myself for homemade bags and purses. I just took photos of my creations and posted it in my website. (more…)

I discovered an old high school friend on Facebook – the one I “fought with and made up with”. I learned that she is now in Australia. It was a funny and happy cyberspace reunion as we recounted the years in high school. We got reconnected with each other’s common friends and shared photos of high school when everyone was still innocent and wide-eyed. It was so nostalgic and overwhelming. I also learned that our upcoming high school reunion will be held a few months from now. It will be our 2oth. (more…)

Gone is the image of the artist as a disheveled young man (or woman) for that matter. Conflicted. Tortured. Restless. In its place are regular men and women with day jobs who do art on the side as a form of release and further self-expression.
